Recruitment against Grade Pay Rs.1800/- (Earstwhile Group-D posts)
Applications in the prescribed format are invited from eligible Indian Nationals for filling up of Group-D posts in East Central Railway (ECR) :
Group – D : 4655 posts (UR-2344, OBC-1256, SC-696, ST-359) in various categories in the pay scale Rs.5200-20200 Grade Pay Rs. 1800, Age : 18-33 years as on 01/01/2014.

MODE OF SELECTION:
1 Written Examination: Candidates whose applications are summarily found in order after initial scrutiny will be called for a Written Test. A separate call letter indicating date of examination, time and venue will be sent to all such candidates. Written Examination consists of objective type multiple choice ( 4 options) question paper based on 10th class standard to assess the general knowledge/awareness/mathematics /reasoning etc. There will be 100 Questions and the duration of Written Examination will be 90 minutes.
2 The question paper will be printed in Hindi, English, Urdu and Maithili.
3 Negative Marking: There will be negative marking for marking wrong answers. 1/3 mark will be deducted for each wrong answer.2 Physical Efficiency Test (PET): Based on merit position of the candidates in the written examination, PET shall be conducted for short-listed candidates who qualify written examination. The entire PET process will be videographed.Passing the Physical Efficiency Test (PET) is mandatory and the same will be qualifying in nature.
APPLICATION FEE: (i) Rs. 100/- (one hundred only) payable in the form of crossed Indian Postal Order only, drawn in favour of Assistant Personnel Officer(RRC), Railway Recruitment Cell, E.C.Railway, payable at Patna. Remittance of examination fee in any other form will not be accepted and application shall be summarily rejected solely on this ground. Indian Postal Order (s) should not have been issued earlier to the date of issue of this notification. (ii) Candidate should write his name and address on the place provided on the Indian postal order (IPOs). Examination Fees is not refundable and it cannot be adjusted for another examination under any circumstances.
The following categories are exempted from payment of examination fee:
(i) Candidates belonging to SC/ST communities
(ii) Women candidates
(iii) Candidates belonging to minority (described in para 3.2 below) communities
(iv) Candidates belonging to economically backward class having annual family income of less than Rs. 50,000/-
(v) Persons with Disabilities (PWD) or Physically Handicapped (PH) candidates.
(vi) Ex-Servicemen.
How to Apply : The duly filled up application along with the required documents should be addressed to the Assistant Personnel Officer (RRC), Railway Recruitment Cell, East Central Railway, Polson Complex, Digha Ghat, Patna – 800011, Bihar.Or dropped in the Application Box/Room at Railway Recruitment Cell office, East Central Railway, Polson Complex, Digha Ghat, Patna – 800011 Bihar upto 18.00 hours of the closing date i.e 14.10.2013 on all working days i.e except Saturday, Sunday and Gazetted Holidays.
2 On the envelope containing the application, “APPLICATION FOR RECRUITMENT TO THE POSTS IN PAY BAND-1 + GRADE PAY RS.1800/-, EMPLOYMENT NOTICE NO. RRC/ECR/GP 1800/1/2013”, should clearly be written.
General Instructions:
1 Before applying to the post, the candidate should ensure that he/she fulfills the eligibility criteria. The Railway Recruitment Cell/East Central Railway shall reject applications not fulfilling the requisite criteria, at any stage of recruitment and if erroneously appointed, such candidates shall be liable to be summarily removed from service.
2 Selected candidates are liable to be posted anywhere in East Central Railway. Decision of Railway Administration in this regard shall be final.
3 Emoluments on initial appointment will be at minimum of the Pay Band 1 + Grade Pay Rs. 1800 + Other allowances as admissible.Female Candidates are also eligible. They may however note that the nature of duties may be arduous and may involve out door duties.
4. Mere selection and empanelment does not confer any right of appointment to the candidates.Admission of the candidate at all stages of recruitment will be purely provisional subject to satisfying the prescribed conditions.Railway Recruitment Cell,
5. Under no circumstances damage/loss of any kind or re-fund of examination fee will be considered.The candidates recommended for appointment will have to pass the requisite medical fitness test(s) conducted by the Railway Administration to ensure that the candidates are medically fit to carry out the duties associated with the post.
6. Candidates recommended for a particular category of post with a higher medical classification will not be considered for any alternative post with lower medical classification in the event of their medical unfitness.Candidates should enclose self-attested photocopies of the relevant certificates as mentioned below.
7. Indian Postal Order towards the examination fee of Rs.100/- (rupees one hundred only), wherever applicable.Certificates in proof of the Date of Birth. Only 10th class pass/Matric certificate or school leaving certificate will be accepted.
8. Self-declaration for candidates belonging to minority communities seeking fee concession. In case of Ex-servicemen and Government Servants, self attested copy of certificate from the appropriate authority giving their length of regular service etc.

About the organization:
Prior to 1996-97, Indian Railway consisted of nine Zones. On 16.06.96, Ministry of Railways decided to setup six new Zones to be carved out of the existing network of Indian Railway by reorganization of the existing zones. East Central Railway with its Headquarters at Hajipur in Bihar is one of these six new zones.East Central Railway was inaugurated on 08.09.96 and an Officer on Special Duty of the rank of General Manager was posted.Construction of temporary Zonal Office Building for E. C. Railway covering 3100 sqm. area was completed in June, 97 and core group of Officers and staff posted. E. C. Railway started functioning by looking after some of the activities of Sonpur and Samastipur Division.Though the Zone was first set up on September 8, 1996 with Headquarters at Hajipur, Bihar, it became operational on 1st October, 2002. East Central Railway was carved out ofEastern and North Eastern Railway consisting of the divisions namely Dhanbad, Danapur, Mughalsarai from Eastern Railways and Sonepur and Samastipur out of North Eastern Railway. The last eleven years of its existence has been full of challenges and every obstacle was dealt in a dedicated manner despite constraints of work force and infrastructure.ECR, has a vast network of 5230 track kilometer and 3624 route kilometers encompassing the states of Bihar, Jharkhand, Uttar Pradesh and Madhya Pradhesh.
